Series:  Back to Worship

Topic:  Open the Eyes of My Heart

Text: Nehemiah 8:1-12

SCRIPTURE: Read these verses in a couple of different translations.

Nehemiah did not read the Scriptures casually to the people. What was done to prepare for this time of worship?

When the passage was read and explained, the people wept. Why? And how did the leaders respond to their weeping? What instruction did they give?

ACCOUNTABILITY: While some of our worship takes place in solitude, this is a beautiful example of corporate worship. Are you allowing yourself multiple opportunities for worship? Talk with your group about how they worship by themselves and with others. What worship experience might you consider adding based on your conversation?

When you see others celebrating God in a way that is new or foreign to you, what goes on in your mind and heart?

TRANSFORMATION: We live in such a fast-paced society. Do we take the time to prepare for worship? How can we better prepare ourselves and our families?

“Worship happens whenever we intentionally cherish God and value Him above all else in life. Worship reveals what is important to us.”  Adele Ahlberg Calhoun

He Gets Us

Though Jesus walked the earth 2,000 years ago, He still knows about the problems you face today. Not only does Jesus know what plagues us as a culture, He gets us. Jesus can relate. He was tempted, too. He was disrespected, too. He was doubted, too. He mourned, too. He suffered, too.

Faith Church is joining other churches in the Chicagoland area for the series, He Gets Us. We’ll explore that Jesus knows about our insecurity, exhaustion, anxiety, guilt, loneliness and grief. Join us for this new series as we find assurance in knowing we aren’t alone in this world. We have a Savior who gets us and cares about what we are feeling.
