Text:  I Peter 1:3-5

Scripture: All of our earthly fathers have left us a legacy. While sometimes it is a financial or material legacy, it may be a legacy of faith in Jesus or of character values – things like honesty, a strong work ethic or giving to those in need. And sometimes we are left legacies of challenges that our fathers have faced before us.

Talk about what legacy your father left to you. Then discuss verse 4 and the characteristics of our inheritance from our Heavenly Father.

Accountability: How can we leave an eternal legacy?

Transformation: What legacy are you leaving for those who come after you – your children and grandchildren, your nieces and nephews or those who know you and who are influenced by you?

If you are not pleased with the answer, what changes is God encouraging you to make? Remember, whatever you decide, those changes cannot be made by you alone. Ask for help from the Holy Spirit. It is always helpful to find a spiritual friend to hold you accountable for those decisions.

He Gets Us

Though Jesus walked the earth 2,000 years ago, He still knows about the problems you face today. Not only does Jesus know what plagues us as a culture, He gets us. Jesus can relate. He was tempted, too. He was disrespected, too. He was doubted, too. He mourned, too. He suffered, too.

Faith Church is joining other churches in the Chicagoland area for the series, He Gets Us. We’ll explore that Jesus knows about our insecurity, exhaustion, anxiety, guilt, loneliness and grief. Join us for this new series as we find assurance in knowing we aren’t alone in this world. We have a Savior who gets us and cares about what we are feeling.
