Continue the Conversation Questions
Leadership Next: Vision Weekend | Scripture Reference: Mark 5:1-20

Discuss the following questions with your Small Group:

  1. Read Mark 5:1-20. What parallels can we make between the demon-possessed man and ourselves?
  2. In verses 6-7, the demons are terrified of Jesus and want Jesus to leave them alone. In what ways today do people ask Jesus to leave them alone?
  3. The element of pigs is unique to this story. Imagine you were one of the townspeople from the surrounding area hearing about the demon-possessed man being healed. Why did they plea/implore Jesus to leave the area instead of thanking Him (v. 17)? How does their reaction reveal their fear and misunderstanding?
  4. Read verses 18-20. As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. What did Jesus tell him? Why would Jesus refuse to let him follow him?
  5. How did the man respond to Jesus’ instructions? How do the man’s actions serve as an example for us? What are some specific examples in which you can make a Kingdom impact? Where is your Decapolis?
