PUSHING BACK THE DARKNESS

  |

Series: Pushing Back the Darkness

Topic: War and a Divine Defense
Text: Matthew 12:22-28 and Luke 5:16

Bottom Line: Jesus was no stranger to spiritual warfare. His defensive strategy is tried and true and offers us a definitive way to push back the darkness.

Scripture: The Bible makes it clear there is darkness lurking. From your reading of these passages, what was the response of the religious leaders when Jesus cast out demons? Why do you think they responded as they did?

Accountability: What difference does being in community with other believers make when it comes to dealing with spiritual darkness? What is your reaction when confronted with someone who is “dabbling” with  darkness?

Transformation: Luke 5:16 is a pretty powerful statement. Jesus, who is God, “would withdraw to desolate places and pray.” Why? And if He felt the need to pray, what about us?

What other ways can we combat evil and darkness in our lives and in our homes?
