Series: Pushing Back the Darkness

Topic: Suited for War

Text: Ephesians 6:10-20

As we pray for people of Ukraine in the midst of a physical war, God leads us to prepare for a spiritual war in this series – a war not to be taken lightly. The proper uniform is essential when engaging in warfare. God has given us exactly what we need to fight well and stand firm. We must suit up accordingly to push back the darkness.

Scripture:  Paul ends the letter to the church in Ephesus like a general giving final instructions before battle. You can protect yourself from the Evil One by putting on these pieces of armor. Together, discuss each piece of armor and how it can make a difference in your life by “putting it on.”

Accountability: Consider memorizing (at least) verses 14-17 with a friend or your family. It will serve you well.

Transformation: At the end of this passage, Paul identifies himself as “an ambassador in chains.” If you view yourself as Jesus’ ambassador to your world, what “chains,” physical, spiritual or emotional, are you dealing with? How does this impact your ministry as His ambassador?

He Gets Us

Though Jesus walked the earth 2,000 years ago, He still knows about the problems you face today. Not only does Jesus know what plagues us as a culture, He gets us. Jesus can relate. He was tempted, too. He was disrespected, too. He was doubted, too. He mourned, too. He suffered, too.

Faith Church is joining other churches in the Chicagoland area for the series, He Gets Us. We’ll explore that Jesus knows about our insecurity, exhaustion, anxiety, guilt, loneliness and grief. Join us for this new series as we find assurance in knowing we aren’t alone in this world. We have a Savior who gets us and cares about what we are feeling.
