Series: Rhythms. the way of Jesus
Message: Rhythm of FOCUS
Text: Mark 6:30-32
Scripture: Read aloud these verses which talk about Jesus “getting away:” Mark 1:35, Mark 6:30-32, Mark 6:45-46, Luke 4:42, Luke 5:15-16, and Luke 6:12. What similarities do you notice, what differences? Why do you think Jesus is modeling this for us?
Accountability: What is your response to the word “solitude?” Is it something you find easy to do or difficult? Why? As a group, choose a couple of verses to meditate on this week.
Transformation: What “little solitude” can you commit to doing weekly? If this is a new practice for you, don’t begin with three days away. Try spending your time with God while you are in the shower, or driving to work, or doing the dishes. When your group is together next time, tell if you saw a difference in yourself after spending some alone time with God.
Put your “meditation verses” on a post-it note on your mirror or car dash or computer to remind you to spend some time focusing on these verses. After a week you will be surprised at how it can influence your words and your thoughts. Try it!
