August 2020 Celebration Weekend

Celebration Weekend!

Scripture: Haggai 2:1-9

Questions to discuss together:

  1. Early in this chapter the people were longing for the “good ole days.” But what was “better than before” for them than when they were in Egypt?  In recent challenging months, can you think of anything that is “better than before” – before the pandemic?
  2. Celebrations have been difficult in these months. What celebrations did you miss? What creative ways have you found to celebrate milestones?
  3. The Bible is filled with encouragement in troubled times. How has your faith sustained you? How do you find His peace in the midst of the pandemic, racial tensions and a political divide?
  4. Take a look at verses 4-5. But take courage, O Zerubbabel and Joshua and all the people; take courage and work, for I am with you, says the Lord Almighty. For I promised when you left Egypt that my Spirit would remain among you; so don’t be afraid,’ (The Living Bible). How would you paraphrase this verse to reflect the circumstances of August 2020?

Celebration Weekend

We celebrate small steps and momentous milestones. This weekend we celebrate commitment and life change by covenanting with those being baptized, cheering on adults in this symbolic declaration of faith and stepping up to point the children to Jesus. We commit to walking alongside those professing their faith in Christ and reach out to those transferring into our family, creating space for them to find community and their place of service amongst us. This is the weekend we celebrate the visual reminder of how God is restoring and transforming the world one relationship at a time and lean into the known of the much more we are called to do. Celebrate with us!
