Questions for you to discuss:

SCRIPTURE

Avoiding “wrangling over words” and “profane chatter” is not a new challenge. What might that have looked like in Bible times? And what about today on social media? What does Paul teach is the ultimate result of these actions?

ACCOUNTABILITY

Sometimes we say things on social media we would never say to someone’s face. Why do you think our filters change on this medium? How can you bring your “social media self” into closer alignment with your “real self?”

Facebook can also be a source of unhealthy comparison. If you find yourself in this situation, who can be a real friend, someone to help you be accountable in this area?

TRANSFORMATION

What might God be encouraging you to change after thinking about your social media engagement? Do you need to ask your friends for forgiveness for your words? Or do you need to ask God for forgiveness when comparing leads to discontent?

Thought for the week: “Whoever compares focuses no longer on God, but squints toward the other, leading either to discontent and discouragement or to presumption and arrogance.” Peter van Breeman

Complicated Conversations

Truth in Genesis

What’s truth? We live in a society where people tend to define their own truths, using their own guidelines. Where values and beliefs are spun in such a way that makes us question if God’s way really is the best.

But does a Universal Truth exist? We believe there is and it’s been recorded in roughly 757,000 words. We invite you to join us as we open that source, God’s Word, and equip you to have complicated conversations with those who are defining their own truth.
